Best places to go

Canal Street

Canal street is one the liveliest areas of Manchester, as it is famously known as the 'gay village'. Although it's typically packed with the LGBT community, it's welcome to anybody whether you are gay, straight or bisexual.

Deansgate Locks

Opposite the train station and beneath the tram station is the many arches that are converted into bars, all with a walkway and a bridge hanging over the canal.

Fifth Nightclub

Formerly known as 5th Avenue, it's the best place for students to go as they offer cheap drinks and frequent events in their popular venue with 3 rooms and 5 bars.

Located under the arch at Oxford Road station, it is a bar, restaurant, live venue and nightclub in one. With regular gigs and an excellent menu, Gorilla is a very good place to go for a good time.

Northern Quarter

The Northern Quarter is no doubt the best place to go for a night out in Manchester with many of the city's best bars and pubs located here. There are lots of live music events here with new establishments opening up on a monthly basis.

The Factory

Factory 251 is the nightclub loved by many students as it has a low price entry, 3 floors covering different genres of music and it is no further than a 10 min walk from MMU campus.
